In honour of Paris Fashion Week and Balenciaga’s Spring Summer 2016 collection unveiling on 3 October 2015, I would like to take a moment to look back at Alexander Wang’s debut collection for the house back in 2013. As you might be well aware of, Wang is discontinuing his tenure at Balenciaga after 3 years. It was a huge gap to fill in for Wang since Ghesquiere’s departure from the French house and Wang has done an impressive job. Now before Wang released his final collection (SS16) for Balenciaga, let us look back at his debut collection.
The first collection from FW13
If we looked back at Look 21 and Look 29, I am glad Wang has brought these iconic Balenciaga patterns to his 2015 leather products collections such as wallets and purse. I appreciate Wang paid respect to Cristobal Balenciaga in his debut collection and continued his legacy in the 2015 collection.
With Wang leaving the French house, the burning question the fashion world is dying to find out is that: Who will be the next creative director of Balenciaga?
