Workout Wednesday: Running 2

In my previous post, I mentioned about 2 of the many benefits of running. Today I’ll like to share more about running because I love running myself. Every morning I like to start the day with at least 10 minutes of running on the treadmill. It is a much better way to stay awake than coffee or alarm clock. It makes your body perspire and sweat. At the end of a good 10 minutes run, suddenly you will feel wide awake and ready for the rest of the day.

#3: Strengthen Muscles

As we run, whether it is around the park or on the treadmill, all your body muscles are involved from head to toe. Over a period of time, you will find that your overall body muscle becomes firmer and you will look slender.

#4: Build Strong Bones

Running will help you to build stronger bones. Running is classified as a weight bearing exercise. Our body needs to bear the entire body weight as we run so over an interval of time, we can build stronger bones. The only thing we need to remember: always drink plenty of low-fat milk to replenish calcium. Aim to drink at least 1-2 glasses of low-fat milk everyday. If you have lactose intolerance, you may consider taking calcium pills instead.
