A Conversation That Mean So Much

After performing my duty at the school cooperative movement, I decided to walk to the staff room to look for Madam Tay, my Form 3 Mathematics teacher. I wanted to check with her about the Olympia Mathematics Competition stuff. XD

  With surprises, I bumped into her just at the canteen. [Lucky me, ain't I? XD] And so, the dialogue between me and Madam Tay began. XD

Leon: Good morning, Puan Tay.

Mdm Tay: Oh! Good morning, Leon.

Leon: (I lend out my hand to shake her) Happy New Year, teacher!

Mdm Tay: (shaking my hand) Oh! Happy New Year to you too! Oh Leon, why you didn’t come to my house during CNY huh? If you came, I sure give you angpau.

Leon: (wide grin) Haha. I wanted to go leh… I asked Puan Tan for your address, she said she dunno. XD.

Mdm Tay: How come Puan Tan doesn’t know huh? Impossible leh.. You know, last year when we go for PMR marking, she came to my house to pick me up leh…

Leon: (sounded curious) Is it?

Mdm Tay: Yes… Of course

Leon: Haha. Never mind. Probably next year.

Mdm Tay: By the way, Leon. Puan Tan still want to exchange the school’s test paper like what we did last year?

Leon: Err.. I think so. I need to ask her lah..

Mdm Tay: Oh. Ok. Are you still going to her house there for tuition? Tuition what?

Leon: Hmm… F4 Mathematics only…

Mdm Tay: Oh. I thought Additional Mathematics. Where did you go for your Additional Maths leh?

Leon: Err… at Pending there…

Mdm Tay: Wah! So far! How’s the teacher? Is the teacher good?

Leon: Not bad. She graduated from Australia. Though she is not a government school teacher, she’s still ok lah…

Mdm Tay: I tell you why lah. Not all teachers graduated from universities are good. The most important thing is they know how to teach.

Leon: Ya. That’s true. Aiyo, Puan Tay! This year arr… so many stuff to do.. The science subjects are a pain in the neck.

Mdm Tay: So you must go for tuition loh… Did you go for tuition?

Leon: Yup! Chemistry and Physics.

Mdm Tay: At Sarjana there?

Leon: [Wow! Why her first answer hits the bullseye? XD] Yup. Chemistry at there. Physics at someone’s home in Tabuan Jaya.

Mdm Tay: Good or not?

Leon: Should be ok lah… Haha

Mdm Tay: Biology leh?

Leon: Dunno. But that’s also another tough subject. So difficult to cope with that subject.

Mdm Tay: Eh, Leon! I’ve got a friend of mine who is an expert in Biology. Unfortunately he did not give tuition to Form 4 students.

Leon: Aww… too bad…

Mdm Tay: Yaloh! He is a good teacher. He only gives tuition to Form 5 students nia. But he said he can finish both forms syllabus in one year. He’s really very good. If you want, I can recommend him to you.

Leon: Wow! Amazing huh? Haha. Ok. I’ll see lah.

[We have only walked from the canteen to the green stairs and our conversation has not come to an end yet. XD]

Mdm Tay: So, did you visit Puan Tan during CNY?

Leon: Yeap! My whole family visited her family. Cause my parents also know them mah.. So we all go together.

Mdm Tay: I see…

[Sorry there's a part where I had forgotten what Puan Tay and I had talked about. XD]

Mdm Tay: By the way, Leon. Do you know that I have recommended you to participate in the Olympia Mathematics?

Leon: Oh! So you recommended me? Haha. Yes. Mr. Liew Su Fah approached us yesterday.

Mdm Tay: That’s good.

Leon: But I saw that Ling Tchii was like quite disappointed that he was not chosen to be in the team.

Mdm Tay: No mah. Cause when I was searching for the eligible and qualified students, I did not happen to see his name. I thought he got transferred to Australia like what his brother did.

Leon: Oh. That’s true. Something happen to the registration. I did not know why they put his name at the last. Maybe that’s why you did not notice his name.

[The 'character' we are chatting about just came in time.. Perfect timing huh? XD]

Ling Tchii: Puan Tay, this is the list.

Mdm Tay: Leon, look at the list. Cause they want to enrol for this competition, so I asked them to form another team.

Leon: Not a bad idea leh. Since this competition can assists us in getting higher GERKO marks right?

Mdm Tay: Yes! So you guys should join. Later I am going to convince Mr. Liew to form 2 teams this year. But I don’t know if he allows it or not.

Leon: Aww…

Mdm Tay: Haha. No choice. He’s the Senior Teachers.

Leon: (It’s difficult to teach an old dog new tricks, isn’t it? XD)

Mdm Tay: So, ok lah. All the best to you in Form 4.

Leon: Thank you! Bye teacher!

Mdm Tay: Bye!

  So, both of us marched into the staff room but diverged into different routes to do our own staff.

  At least from this conversation, I learned that although I graduated from Form 3, the teachers still remembered me! [That's so sweet of them, agree? XD] And, I realised that I still respect the teachers although I am currently not under them.

  Probably it’s the attitude of giving and taking and also tolerating one another that makes the relationship between me and the teachers to become even more harmonious as days elapsed. If there is a deep yet unseen bond between teachers and students, how joyous and merry and harmonious the whole school would be. Just can’t imagine the magical wonderland! XD.
